How online sessions work
Sessions are held online through a virtual classroom platform. You'll get the session link by email ahead of your scheduled session — just click it to join. Any laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone with a stable internet connection works.
Having your camera and mic on helps sessions feel personal and lets Ms. Gaffney see the student's work as they go. Some materials are provided depending on the subject; for others, the student may need their own textbook, assignment, or basic supplies like paper and a pencil — you'll know ahead of time what to have on hand.
If you run into connection trouble, reach out by email and we'll troubleshoot together or find a time to reschedule — no session is lost to a bad connection.
Information we collect
When you reach out by email or book a session, we may collect:
- Your name and contact information (email address)
- Your student's name, grade level, and the subjects they need help with
- Scheduling details, such as preferred session times
- Payment information processed through our payment provider, Commas (formerly known as FanBasis)
We do not collect payment card details ourselves. Payment information is handled directly by Commas — see the "Payments" section below.
How we use your information
- To schedule, confirm, and conduct tutoring sessions
- To communicate with you about bookings, rescheduling, or questions
- To process payments and refunds for sessions
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
Payments
Payments for tutoring sessions are processed through Commas (formerly FanBasis), a third-party payment platform. When you pay for a session, your payment details are handled directly by Commas under its own privacy and security practices. Information sharing
We only share information as needed to run tutoring sessions and process payments — for example, sharing payment details with Commas to complete a transaction. We do not share your information with any other third party for marketing or advertising purposes.
Children's information
Our tutoring services are offered to students in grades K–12. We collect student information (such as name and grade level) directly from a parent or guardian who initiates contact with us, not directly from the student. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions about information we hold about your student, please contact us using the details below.
Data retention
We retain contact and scheduling information for as long as needed to provide tutoring services and to keep basic business records, such as for tax purposes.
Your choices
You can ask us to update or delete the contact information we hold about you or your student at any time by emailing us.
